The 2024 Minnesota Vikings were so good with their 14-3 season that their coaches and personnel were called for interviews

Over the past two weeks, four different assistants on the Vikings have been summoned for interviews, including three of them interviewing with the New York Jets. Through two weeks, none of them have been hired for a new opportunity.

One of the Vikings' top candidates is Brian Flores, who has been asked to interview with multiple teams, with three of them happening over the weekend.

Brian Flores more likely to return to the Vikings in 2025

One of the teams that Flores interviewed with was the Chicago Bears. They were the original team to be interested in Flores' services as a head coach, but they made a different choice on Monday afternoon. The Bears are set to hire Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their new head coach.

Johnson felt like the choice for the Bears from the start. He was the most sought-after coach the last two cycles and he's finally picked his landing spot. The choice of the Bears likely has everything to do with quarterback Caleb Williams already in place and Johnson can help build the rest of the offense around him in his image.

The Bears will still need to make a defensive coordinator hire to maximize a defense that was really good in the first half of the season last year. The rumors are that it will be former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen, which would be a home run.

For the Vikings, Flores not being hired for the head coaching job with the Bears is a huge win. That was the most likely landing spot for Flores among the openings across the league. However, the Jets are looming. They are interviewing Aaron Glenn on Monday and if they come to terms on a deal, Glenn will be the next Jets head coach.

Only a few more openings to fill before Flores is guaranteed to return to the Vikings.
