An elite 2026 four-star recruit says he wants an offer from the Tennessee Vols.
But it's probably not going to happen.
2026 four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth, 6-foot-3/190 lbs from Jackson, AL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 5 quarterback in the nation and the No. 66 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
Duckworth told 247Sports this week that Tennessee is a team that he would like to receive an offer from.
"I would say Tennessee. I want that offer," said Duckworth.
The Alabama native is one of the best 2026 players in the nation, but it's unlikely that he receives an offer from Tennessee.
That's because the Volunteers already have a commitment from 2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon.
Brandon is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
Brandon told Rivals.com last month that he's firmly committed to Tennessee.
"I don't plan on going anywhere," said Brandon. "I'm working on trying to deal with my class and getting more kids committed to Tennessee so we can have a great program."
With Brandon solidly committed to Tennessee, it wouldn't make much sense for the Vols to extend an offer to Duckworth, a player that almost certainly isn't going to sign with a program to be a backup (or to compete with the top player in the nation).
Offering Duckworth would do nothing but complicate Tennessee's relationship with Brandon — which is the last thing the Vols need.
Maybe Duckworth just wants to put a Power T logo on his next top schools graphic. Or maybe he's legitimately intrigued by Tennessee. Either way, that's a path the Volunteers probably aren't going down.
Florida State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Georgia are the top programs currently in the mix to land Duckworth.
