Many New York Giants fans were flying high ahead of the team's matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. They held the first overall pick. A rookie quarterback was seemingly on the way.
Instead of packing it in and laying down, securing the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, New York played their best offensive game in recent memory to get their third win of the season. With the victory, more questions regarding the team's future came to the surface.
Giants fall from first pick
With their Week 17 win over the Colts and following NFL action, the Giants dropped to the fourth spot in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Drew Lock was incredible against Indy, totaling 309 pass yards and five total touchdowns. It was a completely different experience from any other game started by Lock, or really any other quarterback, for the G-Men this year.
With the win, the chances that the Giants can land their preferred QB prospect in round one does take a hit.
It becomes much more likely that they will have to trade up in order to pass any other team who may want Colorado's Shedeur Sanders or Miami's Cam Ward. One of them could be available at pick three, but it is possible that New York continues to fall, depending on other outcomes around the league or a win by the Giants next week.
Only time will tell, but all of the hype around the top overall pick for New York has come to a screeching halt.
New York Giants legend allows history to be rewritten for Malik Nabers before he takes a snap
A jaw-dropping decision.
