The Pittsburgh Steelers are amidst their second losing streak of the season.
Dropping two in a row against the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens, things won't be getting any easier.
That's because the 14-1 Kansas City Chiefs are coming to town on Christmas, and the Steelers are likely to be without their top Corner:
Steelers Week 17 Injury Report (Sunday)
"Some guys that didn't play yesterday who have a real chance this week Justin Fields, DeShon Elliott, Donte Jackson, George Pickens and Larry Ogunjobi all have an opportunity to play this week," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "But again, we'll see where the week leads us from their inclusion…
"…The two guys that didn't finish yesterday's game, Joey Porter with a knee and Ben Skowronek with the hip, their availability remains questionable. I just don't have a lot of new information on those guys given that we just played last night and we're still in the process of assessing the state of some of those things."
Pittsburgh didn't actually practice on Sunday, seeing as they had a game less than 24 hours before the report was published, but it came with some good and bad. It might only be an estimation, but to see George Pickens back in a limited capacity opposed to no participation is a huge step toward his Christmas day availability.
It could all be for nothing if the Steelers' secondary can't stop anyone, however. With Donte Jackson still grooming a back injury and Joey Porter injuring his knee in what may be concerning fashion, it won't be easy against Patrick Mahomes, no matter the state of the offense.
Expect Cory Trice Jr. to see a big workload if he's unable to go:
"You know, Cory [Trice Jr.] has done a nice job in practice, and he did a nice job yesterday when given an opportunity to get back on the moving train, and he has done so earlier in the year, and so I expect more the same from him," said HC Mike Tomlin on Sunday.
"In terms of competing against a guy like [Patrick] Mahomes, he’d better just focus on his fundamentals in his game," added Tomlin. He doesn’t have enough of a resume to get preoccupied with what Mahomes is doing. He needs to focus on his game and his quality of play, his eyes, his techniques, his fundamentals, and I'm sure that he will."
Steelers QB Russell Wilson may have just lost a lot more than the game against the Ravens
He did himself no favors on Saturday.
