Things are really bad in Cleveland for the Browns this season and when it has rained it has poured. The Week 15 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs was one bad thing that has hit the team. A new injury to one of their best players is the other.
Chubb has played in eight games this season after coming back from a major knee injury that he suffered in Week 2 of the 2023 season. Now, Chubb has suffered another big setback and it is one that you hate to see.
No. 24 exited in the second half against the Chiefs with what has been revealed to be a broken foot, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. Chubb was seen leaving the game on crutches. A player who has been through a ton in his NFL career has just taken another hit.
“I’ve gotten to have a first row seat to what he’s been able to do,” Stefanski said after the game.”I can’t tell you how much i respect him as a person, what he means to this football team. So, really, really disappointed about this injury.”
Chubb had nine runs for 41 yards against the Chiefs and was running the ball rather well. Since returning this season, the fan-favorite running back hasn’t been quite himself, but that was to be expected as he tried to get reacclimated. Now, Chubb is out for the rest of the season. He finishes his 2024 season with 332 yards and three touchdowns.
The year didn’t go as the Browns had planned in terms of their record, or with how they saw Chubb returning to the field. Chubb is set to be a free agent after the season, so it is possible we have seen the last of him in Cleveland. Chubb said this last week that he wants to be in Cleveland, so a decision will have to be made.
For now, this is just a gut punch to the Browns with more bad news that they just didn’t need.
