Andrew Mukuba career statistics

Pros:

Pass game proactiveness
Mukuba is more of a negator in the passing game, than a playmaker. He routinely shuts down route concepts before they develop. As one of the more experienced safeties in this class, Mukuba has seen it all, and knows where to typically be on the field.
Run game presence
In the running game, Mukuba plays with some surprising physicality based on his body type. He works through traffic with bad intentions, and has laid a few big shots this season. There is definitely an intent to his game in this department.
Versatility
Mukuba has played everything between centerfield, two high, in the slot, and in the box during the course of his college career. While there are roles he fits best, Mukuba’s experience in each capacity will be a huge sell to a prospective NFL team.

Cons:

Segmented range
In pass coverage, Mukuba is very smooth but he is necessarily the rangiest athlete on the back end. He is a bit of a short stepper with segmented range. His impact in coverage will be best served in two alignments than a true center fielder.
Tackling consistency
Mukuba makes his impact felt in the run game, but does have a propensity to play a bit out of control. It can cause him to overrun plays and miss some tackles in space. He has to do a better job breaking down, and harnessing his aggressiveness.
Inconsistent ball skills
Mukuba has five interceptions in his career, but four have come this season. He doesn’t always consistently attack the football in the air. There is a bad habit of letting the football get into his frame.

Player Evaluation:

The safety class is one of the deeper groups in the 2025 NFL Draft. Mukuba is one of the bigger risers in the class, taking a massive step forward from where he was at Clemson. The Texas star is one of the biggest risers in the group, possessing one of the more well rounded games of any safety in the class.

Mukuba brings a high level of physicality, and deep understanding for how offenses are trying to attack him. Some will overthink his good, but not elite traits, but Mukuba is the exact type of player who carves out a role on the next level for a long time.

Player Comparison:

Jevon Holland (Miami Dolphins)

A versatile piece of a secondary, Mukuba doesn’t necessarily have one elite trait but does everybody relatively well. The former Clemson has a talent for making big plays, and is always around the ball. Mukuba has starter upside, and the potential to be a plus contributor by the end of his first contract.
