With the 2024 regular season coming to a close, the Kansas City Chiefs’ home and away opponents for the 2025 NFL season have been finalized.

The 2025 NFL schedule will not officially be revealed until mid-May, which means we don’t have all the details on dates and times for these matchups. However, now that the winners of various AFC and NFC divisions have been determined, the Chiefs’ opponents for the upcoming season are officially set in stone.

Take a look at those opponents and some thoughts down below. . .

2025 Away Opponents:

  • Denver Broncos
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Los Angeles Chargers
  • Dallas Cowboys
  • Jacksonville Jaguars
  • New York Giants
  • Tennessee Titans
  • Buffalo Bills

2025 Home Opponents:

  • Denver Broncos
  • Los Angeles Chargers
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Houston Texans
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Washington Commanders
  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Detroit Lions

Observations:

This season, the Chiefs play against the AFC South and the NFC East. Their 17th game is against the winner of the NFC North division, in this case, the Detroit Lions.

At face value, this looks like one of the easiest schedules the team has played in recent memory. The AFC West was much improved in 2024, but it didn't matter much in the end, given that they didn't manage to get a win against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. The AFC South was one of the worst divisions in football in 2024, with two 12-loss teams (Titans and Jags), an inconsistent Colts squad, and a regressing Texans team. They could also be facing two teams with rookie quarterbacks in the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans.

The quarterback matchups in 2025 really look to be fun, especially when it comes to the home slate. Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels, C.J. Stroud, Justin Herbert, Bo Nix. That's where you want to be facing some of the best QBs in the league, given that GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium still provides one of the best home-field advantages in the NFL. On the road, you've got much weaker QB matchups as things currently stand, with the toughest of the lot being Josh Allen and the Bills.

Will the Chiefs play an international game in 2025?

While the NFL has yet to announce any international games officially, we know that Commissioner Roger Goodell is eyeing eight for the 2025 NFL season. They ultimately envision a future where each team will play an international game during the course of a season. We already know that Spain will host an international game in Madrid, and Germany will host an international game in Berlin. There are also possibilities of games in England, Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland, and Ireland.

The Chiefs last traveled abroad to Frankfurt, Germany, to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 9 of the 2023 NFL season. Expect Kansas City to be among the teams traveling abroad during the 2025 NFL season. It could even be a home game that they forfeit, given that they're scheduled to play nine home games in 2025. It's important to keep in mind that the Chiefs have been awarded international marketing rights in Mexico, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. While the Chiefs aren't guaranteed to play in any of those locations, they'll likely be atop the wishlist for Kansas City.
