This year's Thanksgiving wasn't a particularly fun one for the New York Giants. They lost their seventh game in a row, and it came at the hands to the Dallas Cowboys. In the defeat, they lost a couple of key contributors, too.
Giants place two on injured reserve list
On Monday, New York placed star DT Dexter Lawrence and rookie TE Theo Johnson on season-ending injured reserve.
Lawrence has been one of the top defensive linemen in football this season, and Johnson emerged as an important offensive target alongside fellow rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers.
Lawrence, a stalwart for New York's defense for years now, leads the team with nine sacks this season so far. He may keep that lead, depending on how they finish the season.
Brian Burns has six sacks, so he could catch Lawrence by season's end. Azeez Ojulari also has six of them, but he is currently on injured reserve and may not return this season.
Johnson, a fourth-round pick, totaled 29 catches for 331 yards and a touchdown in the first 12 games of the year. He also developed some as a blocker for New York as well.
Expect more from Daniel Bellinger and Chris Manhertz at tight end for the G-Men to finish the season. They recently also added young TE Greg Dulcich after he was let go by the Denver Broncos.
