NFL insider Jonathan Jones of CBS reported that wide receiver Hollywood Brown could potentially return for the Chiefs' Week 17 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.
Brown injured his shoulder in Week 1 of the preseason. It didn't seem too serious initially as he was projected to return in mid- to late-September. However, it was determined that he needed surgery to repair his sternoclavicular joint, leading to Kansas City to put him on injured reserve.
There has been hope that Brown would at least be able to return for the Chiefs' postseason run, but it seems that he could return even earlier if there are no setbacks. Keep and mind that nothing is set in stone. The Chiefs may decide to wait until the playoffs to activate him, or he may not return at all.
Brown's return would be huge for the inconsistent K.C. offense, providing it with a deep threat and yards after the catch ability. The Chiefs badly need a receiver who can beat man-to-man coverage. Brown's ability against man combined with DeAndre Hopkins and Travis Kelce's abilities against zone would make K.C.'s passing game much more well-rounded.
