Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby gives NFL draft fans a dose of reality they sorely need

The Las Vegas Raiders need to lose as much as possible. I'm not sure that's something that needs to be explained, either. This team needs to lose as much as possible because they need the best pick possible in the 2025 NFL Draft.
They need their franchise quarterback, and it feels like this draft will be the one they get one. That is, unless they decide to do the Raiders thing they always do and grab Travis Hunter instead. That's certainly something the Raiders would do, based on the history of this franchise. And if the plan was for this team to continue to lose games, the plan is working. But, there is one problem.
That's not the plan.
"If we're not playing to win, then what are we doing? I don't play to get a better pick," defensive end Maxx Crosby said after the loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 12.
The Raiders are just a bad team. They are not losing on purpose. They are not tanking. The front office and coaching staff are not telling these players to go make losing plays, and even if they were, there is no way these players would do it. They are way too competitive.
So, when Crosby says this, he's saying he still wants to win games, he doesn't care about draft position. But, if he ever wants any chance at winning a Super Bowl, and if he wants to get out of the mediocrity streak he is in with the Raiders, he should want to get all of this losing out of the way now. Look at the teams who tanked to get their quarterback, and then turned the franchise around. Look at Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders, C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans. It's possible.
The Raiders are on a seven-game losing streak. Their next few games are the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta Falcons.
