After missing the San Francisco 49ers' blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers, Brock Purdy appears to set to take another positive step towards returning against the Buffalo Bills in primetime on Sunday.
The 49ers quarterback was sidelined by injury for the first time in Week 12 owing to a shoulder injury he suffered in the surprise Week 11 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks.
Purdy was only able to throw a couple of times in practice last Thursday ahead of the Packers game, for which Brandon Allen deputized.
But he did some light throwing on Monday and, speaking to the media on Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed Purdy would practice in a limited capacity.
While Purdy seems to be heading in the right direction, there was plenty of bad news for the 49ers on Wednesday's injury report.
Nick Bosa (hips/obliques) and Trent Williams (ankle) will not practice having also missed the Packers game. Deommodore Lenoir, who hurt his knee at Lambeau Field, will also be held out of the session.
Both guard Aaron Banks and defensive tackle Jordan Elliott remain in the concussion protocol and will take no part in the session, for which linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles will also be absent.
There was a positive sign for guard Dominick Puni (shoulder), with the rookie deemed healthy enough to play a limited part in practice.
Dre Greenlaw will be limited as he makes his long-awaited return to practice following his torn Achilles suffered in Super Bowl 58, while defensive tackle Kevin Givens is also poised to practice after missing the last four games with a groin issue.
