Did the Alabama Crimson Tide clap back at Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers on behalf of the Tennessee Vols this week?
It certainly appears that way.
Alabama hosted Missouri at Bryant-Denny Stadium this past weekend in a game that was close for 30 minutes before turning into a blowout. The Crimson Tide scored 21 points in the second half on their way to a 34-0 win.
On Monday, Alabama's social media team posted a graphic on Twitter/Instagram with a phrase that will be instantly recognized by Tennessee fans.
"Stood on business".
That graphic is a reference to Drinkwitz's infamous drive-by "We stand on business, Josh" comment that he made to Vols head coach Josh Heupel after Missouri's win against Tennessee last season.
That moment had nothing to do with Alabama, but the Crimson Tide didn't hesitate to throw Drinkwitz's comment to Heupel right back in the Missouri head coach's face.
Tennessee, by the way, isn't scheduled to play Missouri in 2024 or 2025, so it'll be a while before they can exact revenge on Drinkwitz and the Tigers. For now, the slight from Alabama directed at Mizzou will have to do for Vols fans.
It's not often that Alabama and Tennessee can high-five each other, but this is one of those rare instances where the two long-time rivals can share a laugh.
