The Minnesota Vikings have downgraded tight end T.J. Hockenson to out and he will remain on the physically unable to perform list ahead of Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Hockenson will likely make his debut next week against the Indianapolis Colts after missing the first six games recovering from a torn ACL suffered against the Detroit Lions in week 16 last December on Christmas Eve.
The move is disappointing for the Vikings as they could use a jolt on offense. The Rams have a major weakness on the second level at linebacker and they can spam Y-choice with Hockenson.
The Vikings also made a decision with offensive guard Dalton Risner who was downgraded to out and will remain on injured reserve as well. He was dealing with a back injury since before the Vikings’ first preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
There have been a lot of rumblings about Risner potentially replacing right guard Ed Ingram and that steam won’t stop until Ingram improves or Risner gets an opportunity.
If the Vikings fail at big game hunting, they should target these less expensive options at the NFL Trade Deadline
