Former Tennessee Vols basketball standout Grant Williams, who currently plays for the Charlotte Hornets, went viral on Friday night for a hard foul on Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum.

Williams, who spent the first four years of his career with the Celtics, was ejected after a hard foul on Tatum that was determined to be flagrant.

After the game, Celtics guard Jaylen Brown said that he thought Williams hit Tatum like it was a football play.

"He hit him like it was a football play," said Brown to reporters after the game. "Like Ray Lewis coming across the middle or something. It is what it is. Grant knows better than that."

I didn't expect Grant Williams to be mentioned in the same sentence as Ray Lewis on Friday night, but that's why we love sports so much — you never know what's going to happen on a random Friday night in November.

Williams, by the way, said after the game that he was just going for the ball.

"Probably a hard foul," said Williams. "Definitely not intentional. Not trying to hurt anybody. We all know [Tatum] is one of my closest friends in the league."

The Hornets and the Celtics play again on Saturday night in Charlotte.
