The Minnesota Vikings have only had one player fined by the National Football League in the first seven weeks.
That has changed on Saturday, as two Vikings players have been fined for their unnecessary roughness penalties in week eight against the Los Angeles Rams.
RB Aaron Jones: $11,817
ILB Ivan Pace Jr.: $5,120
Jones was fined from an illegal low block in the first quarter against the Rams.
It's worth noting that Jones was not called for a penalty on the play. It's odd to see him get called for a penalty on the play, especially since he didn't go below the knee to make the block. It's his first fine of the season.
Pace was fined for a facemask he committed in the first quarter on running back Kyren Williams.
It was an egregious facemask on the play and it was called on the field. It's a pretty bad facemask that is well deserving of a fine. The only other fine was Jihad Ward from week two against the San Francisco 49ers.
It's also worth noting that Rams edge rusher Byron Young was fined $7,014.19 for the facemask on quarterback Sam Darnold at the end of the game. It was more than deserving of the fine.
