The Tennessee Vols learned on Monday that they'll have a much-needed advantage for a key SEC matchup in October.
Tennessee announced on Monday afternoon that the Vols' matchup against Florida on October 12 will be a night game. The game will kick off at 7:00 PM ET and it will air on ESPN.
This is a game that Tennessee should win. The Gators are 2-2 and head coach Billy Napier is firmly on the hot seat. But Florida still has some talented players. And the Gators are coming off a road win against Mississippi State. The Bulldogs don't appear to be very good this season, but road wins in the SEC, regardless of the opponent, can be tough to come by.
Plus, weird things happen in the Florida vs Tennessee rivalry. And those weird things don't usually go in the Vols' favor. Regardless of how good Tennessee is and how bad Florida is, this is a game where records and rankings go out the window.
That's why playing this game at night is huge for the Vols. It's just one more adverse situation that Florida will have to deal with when they come to Knoxville in October.
