It's not too much of a surprise that Darnold was given the honor ahead of multiple other players in the NFC. He's played incredible football this season and leads the league in the following categories:

  • Touchdown passes: 11 (only player in double digits)
  • Passer rating: 118.9
  • Longest pass: 97 yards
  • Adjusted yards/attempt: 9.59
  • Passing TD percentage: 10.4%

Not only is Darnold great in those categories but he ranks highly in multiple others.

  • Passing yards: 932 (7th)
  • Yards/attempt: 8.8 (2nd)
  • Yards/completion: 12.8 (4th)
  • Net yards/attempt: 7.49 (4th)
  • Completion percentage: 68.9% (T-10th)
  • QBR: 73.6 (3rd)

As the Vikings put it above, we just finished the month of Samtember and the Vikings are in a great position at 4-0 this season to thrive throughout the rest of the year. Strap in folks, it's going to be a wild ride.
