A Tennessee Vols redshirt sophomore wide receiver could have a little extra "juice" on Saturday night when UT travels to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Vols wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope spoke with reporters on Tuesday and he was asked about wide receiver Chas Nimrod's mindset for this weekend's game against Arkansas.

Nimrod, a former three-star recruit who signed with Tennessee during the 2022 recruiting cycle, is from Bentonville, AR.

"I think that’s the message (to not press)," said Pope when asked about Nimrod returning to his home state. "When guys are older and mature they understand that. You just kind of talk to him about his preparation. And things are going to happen the way they’re supposed to. Obviously there’s a little bit more juice. There’s a little bit more focus and attention there because he’s going back home. But I think as long as he continues to prepare the right way, I think you’re always gonna get the stuff that you want.”

Arkansas pursued Nimrod when he was a high school recruit. Nimrod visited Arkansas in 2021 and made a connection with the coaching staff. But ultimately, he decided that Knoxville was a better fit.

Nimrod has just three receptions for 41 yards this season after catching 19 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown in 2023. He'll be looking for a breakout game in the state that shaped him as a football player on Saturday night when Tennessee takes on Arkansas.
