The Minnesota Vikings defense is exceptional this season. They rank third in EPA/play and fourth in success rate allowed so far this season. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores has found a way to improve his defense after a near-disastrous stretch to end last season.
One of the biggest issues with last season's defense is the lack of talent. It limited how varied Flores could be with his unique blitzes and coverages. That ended up costing the Vikings at the end of the season when the blitzing rules got figured out and manipulated.

It's no secret that the Vikings defense has been really successful so far this season. The varied ways the Vikings get into their blitzes and coverages create a lot of chaos for the quarterback.
He does a great job of finding ways to confuse quarterbacks. One of them is the unique way he calls his coverages. Thanks to @fball_insights who pulled data from Fantasy Points we know how often each NFL team calls certain coverages. The Vikings are tied for or hold first place in the following coverage styles:
- Cover-0
- MOFO (Cover-2, Cover-4)
Running a significant amount of cover-0 and the combination of cover 2 and cover 4 is quite unique. Usually, you don't see a lot of aggressive tendencies with the conservative nature that is cover 4.
