The Minnesota Vikings were feeling pretty good about their kicker situation going into Sunday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts. That has changed after their 21-13 win Sunday night.
Going into the game, rookie sixth-round pick Will Reichard had made his first 30 kicks with 14 of them being field goals and 16 of them being extra points. He then missed his first two field goals from 53 and 31 yards before making all three of his extra points. During the game, we got an explanation about why that might be.
Will Reichard may miss time
During the game, the NBC broadcast showed Reichard with a wrap around his quadriceps and talked about how he was nursing the injury. After the game, head coach Kevin O'Connell said that Reichard "felt a little tightness" and it's something they will be monitoring.
The Star Tribune's Andrew Krammer spoke to Reichard and he told Krammer that he will be having an MRI on his quad on Monday. This could mean the Vikings will have to try and find a kicker off the street to fill in for Reichard if he needs time to heal.
This isn't news that Vikings fans will want to hear, as the kicker position is one that has haunted the franchise for years. It could also be a week-to-week injury that Reichard can return from with some rest.
We will get our answer later this week.
