The San Francisco 49ers started their Sunday with news George Kittle was not expected to play in the Week 11 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks because of hamstring irritation.
With 90 minutes to go until kickoff, the 49ers confirmed the All-Pro tight end would indeed miss out, placing him on the inactives list in a huge blow to their offense as they look to improve to 6-4 and move level with the Arizona Cardinals at the top of the NFC West. The Cardinals hold the tiebreaker over the Niners.
Kittle has scored seven touchdowns across the 49ers' last five regular-season games with the Seahawks, all of which San Francisco won, but the Niners will need to get into the endzone through other means in this one.
Thankfully, the 49ers will have Trent Williams available to pass protect for Brock Purdy and run block for Christian McCaffrey. The All-Pro left tackle did not practice this week but was cleared to play despite an ankle injury.
Williams went through what looked to be an awkward looking initial warmup at Levi's Stadium to test the ankle out, but both he and the Niners were obviously happy enough with the results.
Also set to play is Nick Bosa, the star pass rusher who battled through a hip pointer in last week's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bosa was also listed as questionable but will again tough it out. The defensive end had 14 quarterback pressures in the 49ers' Week 6 victory over Seattle.
Left guard Aaron Banks is good to go despite being added to the injury report on Friday with a thigh problem, while defensive lineman Yetur Gross-Matos will indeed make his return having been activated from injured reserve on Saturday.
