For the first time this season, the San Francisco 49ers are underdogs.

The Niners had been favored in every game so far this season, but that changed for their Week 12 clash with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

Per DraftKings Sportsbook, the 49ers opened as 1.5-point underdogs for a huge NFC clash that will likely have a huge bearing on their ability to make the playoffs this season.

It is a status with which the 49ers are unfamiliar, but it's one they have undoubtedly earned against the 7-3 Packers after letting slip another fourth-quarter lead in Sunday's upset loss to the Seattle Seahawks, which dropped the Niners to 5-5.

The narrow margin of the spread speaks to the respect the 49ers still command.

But with Nick Bosa a potential doubt after picking up another hip/oblique injury and the 49ers dealing with several other injury issues to key players, it would be no surprise if the line were move significantly in the Packers' favor.

Green Bay will have no shortage of motivation to beat San Francisco. The Packers are still in pursuit of the Detroit Lions (9-1) in the NFC North and can't afford a slip up to give life to the Niners and the two other five-win teams in the West, the Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams, in the Wild Card race.

The Packers will also have some measure of revenge on their mind after the 49ers' comeback win over Green Bay in last season's Divisional Round

It is the 49ers' first regular-season game at Lambeau Field since 2018, when they lost 33-30 in overtime with C.J. Beathard at quarterback. Their last regular-season win at Lambeau was in 2012. Alex Smith was their quarterback with Randy Moss scoring the game's first touchdown.

The 49ers have dramatically underperformed as favorites in 2024. Now, with their season on life support, they must find a way to upset the odds.
