The Cincinnati Bengals were able to have Ja'Marr Chase back at practice Wednesday afternoon with the regular season starting in four days.
If he does play against the New England Patriots on Sunday, will he be good to play? Quarterback Joe Burrow had a simple answer to that question.
"He's ready to go," Burrow said.
Burrow was asked several Chase-centric questions to open his first weekly presser of the regular season, but that answer stood out the most.
Joe Burrow is ready to roll with Ja'Marr Chase again
Chase has notably been holding-in for the vast majority of the offseason. He missed all of training camp despite attending all but one practice. He was in uniform for two days last week, but neither day featured an official practice.
Despite not having him on the practice field with the rest of the team in recent weeks, Burrow affirmed that he's put in enough work with his top target to get going this weekend.
"We've had works days all offseason into camp into the last couple weeks," Burrow said. "We got the work in we needed."
Before Wednesday's practice, offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher confirmed that Chase has done enough to be ready to play, making him aligned with the quarterback.
Should Chase and the Bengals' front office become aligned regarding a contract extension, that would put every remaining question to bed. Chase returning to practice could be a sign that a deal is close, or that he's accepted that an agreement isn't going to happen until next offseason. Chase has two years remaining on his contract thanks to the club exercising his fifth-year option this offseason.
If he does play, his quarterback won't be shy about throwing him the ball.
