Former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Tyler Baron suited up for the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday against the Florida Gators in Gainesville and he quickly made a big impact.

Baron, who initially transferred to Ole Miss this offseason before landing at Louisville and eventually Miami, delivered a hit on Florida Gators quarterback Graham Mertz that resulted in an interception.

Mertz was also hurt on the play and had to leave the game (freshman DJ Lagway came into the game for the Gators).

Here's the play.

That's a tough hit for Mertz (hopefully the Kansas native will check out okay).

As for Baron, it's not a surprise that he's already making a big impact for the Hurricanes. The former Vol has NFL talent. And he was an incredibly productive player during his time on Rocky Top. He should continue to thrive as Miami chases an ACC conference championship.
