The Tennessee Vols entered the 2024 season ranked No. 15 in the AP Top 25 poll.
Tennessee should move up a couple of spots this week thanks to their 69-3 season-opening win against Chattanooga. Additionally, a couple of teams ranked ahead of the Vols lost this past weekend, including LSU, Clemson, and Florida State.
So where will Tennessee be ranked when the new AP Top 25 is released later on Tuesday?
I could see them moving all the way up to No. 12.
On3's Jesse Simonton, however, has the Vols moving up just two spots to No. 13.
From On3: Hype-meter-go-boom! After an offseason full of buzz, Nico Iamaleava lived up to the billing in his 2024 debut by setting a Tennessee record with 314 passing yards in the first half of the Vols’ 69-3 splattering of FCS Chattanooga. The 5-star redshirt freshman went 22-of-28 with three scores before watching the rest of rout from the sidelines in the second half. Josh Heupel’s offense got off to a blazing start, as Dont’e Thornton hauled in two touchdowns, while Dylan Sampson (one of the more underrated ‘backs in the SEC) rolled up 124 yards and three touchdowns (10.1 yards per carry) — all in the first half.
It's far to early in the season to be nitpicking over whether or not Tennessee should be ranked No. 12 or No. 13.
For the Vols to get to where they want to go (which is a national championship), they'll need to keep winning games, which will inevitably result in Tennessee quickly rising up the polls.
Former Vols WR Jauan Jennings received a cool honor from Bill Belichick and a 6-time NFL Pro Bowler
Awesome stuff for the former Vol
