After wide receiver Jordan Addison was listed as out earlier on Friday, the San Francisco 49ers listed one of their own with the same designation. During his post practice media availability, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that running back Christian McCaffrey will also miss Sunday's game. Not only will he miss the game, but he might be placed on injured reserve.
This is a big deal for the Vikings, as McCaffrey helps elevate their offense in a way that no other player can do so. It didn't make much of an impact on Monday night when his backup Jordan Mason rushed 28 times for 147 yards and a touchdown.
Not having a player of McCaffrey's caliber could end up being a factor, especially if the Vikings are as successful at stopping the 49ers running game as they were last season. The Vikings held the 49ers to 65 yards on 22 carries and made them one-dimensional for most of the game.
The game will kick off at noon central time.
