It might have started as a joke back in his days with the Philadelphia Eagles, but that joke has taken a life of its own to the point where he's considered an expert in the subject matter. His players have even gifted him with cheeseburgers after a big win the night before Christmas.
With National Cheeseburger Day upon us, Reid was bestowed with another gift. . .
Chiefs HC Andy Reid was gifted a cheeseburger on National Cheeseburger Day
ESPN's Pat McAfee sent Chiefs HC Andy Reid a surprise on Wednesday. To Celebrate National Cheeseburger Day, he sent Reid a quarter pounder with cheese from McDonald's.
"Yeah, Pat McAfee just sent me a cheeseburger from McDonald's," Reid said during his Wednesday press conference. "I thought that was unique. McAfee is unique. So, I can't wait to enjoy it."
Zito didn't get the memo that Reid isn't a big McDonald's guy. It's the thought that counts and I'm sure Big Red loved the gesture. Reid has previously stated that his fast food cheeseburgers of choice are Five Guys and In & Out Burger. But if you're in Kansas City, he'd have you choose a very specific spot. . .
If you're visiting Chiefs HC Andy Reid's home of the last decade. . .
The favorite of Coach Reid is Town Topic, a Kansas City staple since 1937. The 24/7 burger joint at 2021 Broadway Downtown certainly keeps up with Reid's odd hours at the office. He also is a fan of their milkshakes.
“I love places like that; I sneak in and sneak out,” Reid said, via the KC Star. “It’s just a good cheeseburger, and the black-and-white milkshake is awesome. Vanilla with chocolate syrup. In a blender. They actually do it the old-fashioned way.”
Town Topic also has another downtown location and a location in Mission, Kansas. If you're in River Market, he'd probably tell you to go to Pigwich, where he famously took Guy Fieri on a 2019 episode of "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."
If you happen to be visiting Big Red's hometown, he'll send you to another classic spot.
If you're in Andy Reid's hometown of Los Angeles, California. . .
There's only one place to stop and grab a cheeseburger if you're heading to Big Red's hometown. He's been going to Original Tommy’s World-Famous Hamburgers Los Angeles since he was a kid. There, Reid orders the double chili cheeseburger, which looks like quite the treat.
KSHB-TV did a feature on Reid's favorite spot a few years ago.
"I love those things," Reid told the LA Times."It's good for your joints — the grease. Keeps you lubed up, man."
