Former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops says that Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel, a former OU quarterback, should be welcomed in Norman this weekend "regardless of our differences".
Those differences, of course, revolve around Stoops firing Heupel as the program's offensive coordinator after the 2014 season.
"It's great," said Stoops on his YouTube channel about Heupel returning to Norman on Saturday night. "Regardless of our differences, or, you know, the situation 10 years ago. But the bottom line, he jump started this program [in] my era. In '99 and 2000 going undefeated. The people here know that. And he should be welcomed always here. And I believe our fans will recognize that. But when they take the field, we need to be loud against their quarterback and their offense. But by all means Josh should be welcomed."
Stoops also made his pick for the game. And unsurprisingly, he's picking Oklahoma.
"Well of course," said Stoops when asked if the Sooners will win at home. "That's where I'm at with it in a tight game. We'll be ready for that."
Tennessee and Oklahoma kick off at 7:30 PM ET on Saturday night.
