ESPN's Paul Finebaum made quite the statement about the Tennessee Vols after UT's 25-15 win against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman on Saturday night.

During an appearance on SportsCenter, Finebaum suggested that Tennessee "easily" looks like a College Football Playoff team.

He also said he thinks the Vols could play "late into January".

“They have been woeful on the road,” said Finebaum. “And they finally ended that last night. Now, let’s be frank here — Oklahoma is not the Oklahoma of Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray and the good old days. This is more of a pedestrian unit. And Jackson Arnold certainly struggled. But Tennessee’s got everything going and quite frankly this looks like easily a playoff team, maybe a team that can play late into January.”

It's hard to disagree with Finebaum. With a third of the season already behind us, it certainly appears that Tennessee is one of the teams to beat in the SEC. The Vols have a dynamic offense to pair with a stingy defense. And Tennessee's improved depth should allow the Vols to stay fresh late into the season.

There's a lot of football left to be played, but Tennessee is certainly off to a championship start in 2024.
