Each Saturday, the National Football League releases fines from the previous week. They take the time to look at every play and levy fines for unnecessary roughness, fighting with officials and others.
Through two weeks, there have been 5,034 plays with 52 resulting in fines, a percentage of 1.03%. It's not a lot of plays but it does result in a substantial amount of fines across the league.
Ward is making $1.34 million this year and that fine is over 12% of his game check. It's an unfortunate circumstance for Ward as he's been playing well for the Vikings. As of this writing, we do not know if Ward will appeal the fine or accept it.
