Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields had a rough night on Thursday against the Washington Commanders.

The Bears fell to 2-4 with the 12-7 loss to the Washington Commanders.

Fields had a chance to lead his team to victory, but two passes on the Bears' final two plays were unable to be corraled by Chicago's wide receivers.

That was the theme of the night. When Fields had time to throw — which wasn't often — there were dropped passes and off-target throws. It was frustrating to watch at times just as a football fan. Chicago's offensive line did such a poor job of protecting Fields that even when he got a pass off — like his beautiful 40-yard touchdown pass to Dante Pettis — he was still getting hit.

After the game, Fields expressed some frustration. But the frustration was a good kind of frustration.

The former Ohio State quarterback is tired of waiting around to become a contender. He wants to win now. Badly.

"We always get told that we are almost there, almost there," said Fields after the loss. "Me personally, I’m tired of being almost there. I'm tired of being just this close. I feel like I've been hearing it for so long now."

That's the kind of attitude you want your starting quarterback to have. Fields is a competitor. He doesn't take plays off. He isn't ok with losing. And he has no desire to be "patient" when it comes to winning games.

The Bears have a lot of work to do. And there are some questions that Fields has to answer (can his field vision improve?), but Chicago, if they can build this roster around Fields, has a quarterback they can believe in. They just need to give him some weapons and better protection before it's too late.
