Chicago Bears fans were handed another reason to hate the Green Bay Packers this week.
One of the Bears' biggest offseason needs is going to be along the offensive line. Chicago has to improve their offensive line if QB Justin Fields is going to take another step in his development.
One of Chicago's top offensive line targets was expected to be Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins.
Unfortunately for the Bears, the Packers signed Jenkins to a four-year extension on Friday.
Jenkins would've been a perfect fit for the Bears because of his familiarity with Luke Getsy's offensive system.
Getsy was the quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator for the last three seasons in Green Bay before taking over as the Bears' offensive coordinator in 2022.
With Jenkins off the board, Chicago will have to look elsewhere for offensive line help.
(Another potential offensive line target came also off the board on Friday as Jack Conklin signed an extension with the Cleveland Browns.)
The Bears are undoubtedly a team on the rise — general manager Ryan Poles just needs to add some talent to the roster this offseason. It's not a surprise that Green Bay is inadvertently getting in the way of some of those roster improvements.
