Justin Fields has commanded the respect of many opposing coaches and players with his performance in 2022. He’s done so with miraculous touchdown runs with his arm strength flashing from time to time, becoming a weekly staple on highlight reels across the football world.
Buffalo Bills star linebacker Von Miller is just the latest player to acknowledge Fields’ special skillset. On his podcast, The Voncast, Miller explained why Fields has what it takes to become one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.
"Got a lot of respect for Justin Fields and the things that he’s done,” Miller said. “He’s only the third quarterback in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards.”
“They’re playing to his skillset, and he’s a great runner. He has all the tools to be one of the best quarterbacks ever in NFL history. He’s doing what works right now, and those type of players and those types of teams are dangerous.”
Miller’s words carry plenty of weight in today’s league. The eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro has played alongside Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, as the pair won a Super Bowl together with the Denver Broncos.
Miller currently teamed up with Josh Allen, who has established himself as a perennial MVP candidate. So, he knows a thing or two about what it takes to be an all-time great quarterback.
The Chicago Bears should be pleased with the growth Fields has demonstrated in his second season as the starter. Fields will be able to thrive as soon as the Bears’ front office is able to surround him with capable weapons, which many expect to occur over the upcoming off-season.
