Prescott is one of the most heavily scrutinized players in the league. Playing quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys has a lot to do with that. He is always in the spotlight and every play is dissected.
Dak Prescott will make more money than notable quarterbacks such as Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, and Russell Wilson. The contract is being talked about by the national media, which comes to no surprise.
NFL ANALYST SAYS PRESCOTT IS BETTER THAN WILSON
NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell is among those in the media discussing the mega deal. Cosell joined fellow NFL analyst Ross Tucker on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast to share his thoughts on Prescott's $160 million contract.
Cosell shared a bit of a controversial take on the podcast. The veteran NFL analyst stated that Dak Prescott is a better quarterback than Russell Wilson at this point in time.
“I think that you can make the argument, fairly easily," Cosell said about Prescott being better than Wilson. "I want people to understand that this is based on tape study.
"This is not just people sitting around at the water cooler having a fun conversation or sitting around at the bar just talking ball.
"You can make the argument that at this moment in time, Dak Prescott is a better quarterback (than Russell Wilson). I think the tape shows that. I know the tape shows that.”
Cossell, who has decades of experience watching film and studying the NFL, has received some pushback for this take; however, he is right. A real argument should be made that Prescott has surpassed the Seahawks quarterback at this point in their careers.
The Cowboys quarterback has elevated his game across the board. He is a younger, ascending quarterback that is just now entering his NFL prime. Dallas showed that they are all-in on Prescott with the contract that they just signed him to.
Prescott and Wilson both have elite receivers to throw to. The Cowboys' pass-catchers include Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup. Seattle, though, has both DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett catching passes from Wilson.
Neither quarterback is hurting from lack of talent to throw the ball to.
Overall, Greg Cosell is confident that the tape shows that Prescott is the better quarterback as we sit right now in the 2021 offseason.
That is much more praise for Prescott than it is a knock on Wilson. The two are among the best quarterbacks in all of the National Football League.
