The Tennessee Titans (4-2) look to continue to build a cushion before the team’s toughest stretch of the season.
Following this Sunday’s divisional test on the road at the Houston Texans (1-3-1), the Titans will have a five-game gauntlet against some of the NFL’s most dangerous teams.
Here is how the Titans' schedule plays out following this weekend's matchup against Houston.
Week 9: at Kansas City Chiefs (5-2)
Week 10: vs Denver Broncos (2-5)
Week 11: at Green Bay Packers (3-4)
Week 12: vs Cincinnati Bengals (4-3)
Week 13: at Philadelphia Eagles (6-0)
However, the Titans caught a massive break on Thursday.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to a hip injury.
The Titans square off against the Bengals in a rematch of last season’s AFC Divisional Round in less than five weeks. Even if Chase makes an early return, the Bengals biggest playmaker on offense more than likely won’t be 100 percent healthy.
Chase has dealt with a hip flexor injury in the past, and by re-injuring this area it limits his shiftiness, which is what makes him one of the league’s most dangerous receivers.
The Titans will take whatever breaks happen to come their way in this mid-season gauntlet. In order to survive this stretch, Tennessee must first give themselves some breathing room with a win against the Texans this weekend.
