Injuries, among other issues, have derailed the Tennessee Titans’ season for the second consecutive year. The hits keep coming for Tennessee, as running back Dontrell Hilliard is the latest Titan to land on Injured Reserve.

Hilliard, who serves as the change of pace back for Derrick Henry, was carted off the field with a neck injury in last week’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Along with backing up Henry, Hilliard was a key piece to the Titans’ special teams units.

The IR designation likely means that Hilliard’s 2022 campaign has come to a close.

Hilliard had a productive year in his fifth season in the NFL. He finishes with 22 carries for 145 yards, averaging an efficient 6.6 yards per tote. However, his contributions in the passing game far exceeded preseason expectations.

A major factor in the low redzone, Hilliard recorded 21 receptions for 177 yards, but chipped in a team-high four receiving touchdowns.

The Titans signed rookie running back Julius Chestnut to its active 53-man roster to help fill the void Hilliard leaves behind at back-up running back and on special teams.
