Disaster struck for the Tennessee Titans on Christmas Eve when QB Marcus Mariota was carted off with an injury.

The Titans second year quarterback was sacked late in the third quarter by the Jaguars' Sheldon Day. Trailing 25-10 at the time, the day got worse when the injury cart came onto the field. Trainers placed an aircast around his right foot/ankle and took him away fro x-rays.

For what it's worth, this is "good" news for Mariota. A dislocated ankle or torn ligaments would be a tougher, longer road to recovery.

Mariota injured

The Titans entered Saturday's game with hopes off the playoffs. All they needed to do is beat the Jaguars (2-12) to set up a AFC South Championship bout between the Texas (8-6) on New Year's Day.

Mariota's injury is tough, depressing news for what had been a fun, promising season.
