Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Bud Dupree turned himself in on Friday morning after he was cited with a misdemeanor assault charge for the role he played in an altercation in a Nashville Walgreens in January.

The Tennessean reports that Dupree was booked into the Davidson County jail at 9:15am before being released soon thereafter.

It was on Jan. 4 at the Walgreens in the 1100 block of Rosa L. Parks Boulevard where Dupree and a few of his associates got into a verbal confrontation that turned physical with one of the store’s male employees.

The citation states that Dupree grabbed the employee and his phone, which was being used to record the seven-year NFL veteran, before a skirmish broke out. Dupree and his associates had fled the scene by the time officers had arrived. The male employee was treated for a cut on his forehead while a female employee had suffered a cut on her hand during the altercation.

Dupree’s first season as a Titan after signing a lucrative five-year contract worth $82.5 million was full of ups and downs as injuries subdued his impact. He struggled to find a rhythm early in the season while still clearly recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in December 2020 as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dupree finished the 2021 season playing in 11 games totaling three sacks, 17 tackles (3 TFLs), and a forced fumble. Dupree is expected to return to court for a settlement hearing on April 22.
