Stand up and bow down to who's looking up to be one of the most fun players in football this year. If you tuned into the Cincinnati Bengals preseason game versus the New York Giants and caught the first couple of defensive drives, you know who I'm talking about.
First-round rookie Dax Hill. The versatile defensive back got off to a great start on Saturday, building on what's already been a very strong summer.
In the opening drive of the game, Hill showed incredible range while playing in the box on third-and-five and chasing New York Giants RB Antonio Williams to the flat. Hill made the impressive open-field tackle bringing the man down just short of the sticks.
You can watch the Bengals rookie make the tackle below:
In the following drive, Hill made an impressive play on the ball to pick off QB Daniel Jones. After FB Daniel Bellinger tipped the ball, the Bengals rookie – who was playing as a free safety – managed to dive for the football and keep it secure on the way to the ground.
The below play was reviewed but the call stood.
Hill has been one of the biggest stars of the Bengals' offseason. Even if/when Jessie Bates comes back from his holdout, expect Hill to play plenty as a rookie. After all, Lou Anarumo uses plenty of three-safety looks and he should find a way to get who's shaping up to be a playmaker on the field constantly.
