Tennessee fans have seen plenty of red flags with football coaches. From basically everything Butch Jones ever did to Jeremy Pruitt… well, it was basically everything he ever did also…
The bottom line is that UT has had its fair share of indicators of terrible coaching.
Thankfully, we haven't seen too many of those same indicators yet with new head football coach Josh Heupel.
Heupel had an impressive and fun first season. The season was so surprisingly good, in fact, that other teams began to pursue the Vols' assistant coaches.
Offensive coordinator Alex Golesh and defensive coordinator Tim Banks both reportedly turned away other opportunities thus far during the offseason. And other major assistants like defensive line coach and recruiting extraordinaire Rodney Garner have stayed put.
This may not seem like a huge element of Heupel's time at Tennessee but when you look at the history of staff turnover with guys like the aforementioned Jones and Pruitt, this is actually very impressive.
On this week's Big Orange Podcast, we dove into the details on why staff continuity is absolutely huge for Heupel and why it's a big sign that things are going well for Vol football.
