The Houston Astros seemingly struck some gold late in round one of the 2022 MLB Draft. They grabbed Tennessee Vols OF Drew Gilbert at 28th overall on Sunday evening. Gilbert, projected by many to go in the top 20, was great value for the Astros at the tail-end of the first round.

Scouts believe in Gilbert's talent on offense and defense. Analytically, he was one of the top college outfield prospects in this draft class. He and fellow Vols OF Jordan Beck were projected to go very early.

The Vols outfielder was the selection in a heartwarming moment as well. Willa Suarez from Uvalde Little League announced his selection. She was joined on stage by fellow Uvalde Little Leaguer Ryan Zamora.

Gilbert's energy and confidence certainly match the vibes within the Houston Astros. It sounds like Houston is certainly glad to have the former Vols standout.
