Tennessee basketball picked up a huge 2020 commitment today from five-star shooting guard Jaden Springer.
Springer is currently the star of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The projected first round draft pick is the number 16 rated player in the country and the number four rated shooting guard.
As of now, Jaden Springer is Rick Barnes’ best success on the recruiting trail at Tennessee. Springer is the third highest rated player ever to commit to the Vols behind only Tobias Harris and Scotty Hopson.
The scouting report on Springer from 247 Sports Jerry Meyer reads:
“Tremendous strength and build for a combo guard. Has average-to-good length. A power guard who is effective in traffic and plays through contact. Scores at all three levels. Great rebounder for a guard. Can also distribute, although scoring is his strength. Great potential defensively.”
Sound familiar? Springer is essentially a better version of Jordan Bowden who is already likely to be Tennessee’s best player this season. Both players also stand at six foot, five inches and 195 pounds.
Springer’s top two schools were Tennessee and Memphis which makes this commitment even sweeter to Tennessee basketball fans. He also had offers from SEC schools such as Auburn and Florida while also turning down offers from basketball powerhouses UNC, Kansas and Michigan.
Tennessee now has the fourth best recruiting class in the country for 2020 behind Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina. Springer joins five-star Keon Johnson and four-star Corey Walker in the upcoming class.
Get ready Vols fans, the next few years are going to be very fun.
