The Las Vegas Raiders cut ties with a former first-round pick today.

They released safety Johnathan Abram after attempting to trade him before the trade deadline. For Abram, he will probably get an opportunity elsewhere.

It just never seemed to click in Las Vegas for him. That can be said about most of the draft picks made by former GM Mike Mayock and HC Jon Gruden.

Their performance bin the first round of the NFL Draft was consistently putrid.

The list is just a bit embarrassing at this point. It is quite clear that Mayock and Gruden were just in over their heads during their time with the Raiders.

Alex Leatherwood was one of the worst offensive linemen in the NFL during his time with the Raiders.

Ruggs III and Annette both got into legal troubles.

Abram did not produce how they expected due to his play style.

Jacobs is having a great season, but he will probably sign elsewhere in the off-season due to the size of his contract.

Clelin Ferrell is a rotational defensive lineman with little pass rush production.

None of the picks can be considered hits for the Raiders. Now, Las Vegas sits in the basement of the AFC West.

Their roster is extremely thin with no clear direction for the future.

The tenure of Mayock and Gruden continues to haunt the Raiders.
