The Minnesota Vikings are one of just two teams in the NFL with at least 10 wins, yet they still have plenty of doubters.
To the amazement of many, oddsmakers have unanimously listed the Vikings (10-2) as a two-point underdog to the Detroit Lions (5-7) this Sunday. In fact, it’s the first time in the Super Bowl era that a 10-2 team is listed as underdogs to a 5-7 opponent.
Even Lions head coach Dan Campbell is stunned his team is favored.
“I’m shocked by that, but all those things don’t matter. (The Vikings) find a way to win,” Campbell told reporters on Friday.
“We can’t bet. You know, that’s illegal. I’ll get banned for life from this league,” Campbell made sure to acknowledge.
However, it’s not Campbell’s fault oddsmakers are down on the Vikings. While the sports betting market is slow to come around on Minnesota, Campbell knows how dangerous this Vikings team can be.
“This team has won 10 games, now,” Campbell noted. “They are finding ways to win. They always have. They are where they’re at for a reason and you cannot overlook that. They’ve been down, they’ve been up, and they always find a way. If you don’t have the respect for those teams, you’ll get buried by them.”
There are bright lights and tall buildings in Las Vegas for a reason, but this line is fishy. `Minnesota is 9-0 in games decided by eight points or less this season, which makes it difficult to do anything other than take the points this weekend.
