The Philadelphia Eagles are eager to get going on the 2022 NFL season.

And the Week 1 opponent in the Detroit Lions is shaping up to be a fascinating matchup for an Eagles team aiming to contend in the NFL this season.

Yet, outside all the pageantry that Week 1 will bring, with concise critiques or praises of Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and the whole offensive lot, the interesting battle will take place in the trenches between Philadelphia's Jordan Davis and Detroit's Frank Ragnow.

Davis is a unique athlete who possesses the size to overwhelm and power through opponents.

What he needs is consistency. Which will come, soon enough.

However, in Week 1, facing Ragnow, who hasn't allowed a sack in the last 758 pass-blocking snaps, will be the test.

Davis has a chance to make his NFL debut a memorable one if he produces against a very good center in Ragnow.

That is a big ask. But it's one that Davis may just deliver on.
