Tennessee Titans rookie punter Ryan Stonehouse is quietly making history to begin his career.

The Colorado State product is off to a fantastic start in 2022, currently holding the highest NFL punting average ever recorded, at over 57 yards per punt.

You read that right. Stonehouse is averaging five yards more than the NFL's all-time record for punters, and doing so in grand fashion.

Stonehouse's 70-yard bomb on Sunday came in a crucial moment of the game. Right before the Raiders' final drive of the afternoon, Stonehouse flipped the field, and pinned the Raiders inside their own 20 yard-line.

The difficult training camp decision to part ways with longtime punter and fan favorite Brett Kern is already proving to be the right one. The Titans seemed to have found a good one in Stonehouse, and he's fitting in nicely.

It may not be a touchdown pass or a late-game interception, but Stonehouse's contributions to the Titans special teams unit is already helping them win games. Being able to win the field position battle with regularity (especially late in the game) is a large part of the identity the Titans hope to play into.

The best part is, his historic start comes during his age 23 season. So he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
