Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith spent a decade with the Tennessee Titans, so it's no surprise that he's brought several former members of the Titans' organization with him to Georgia.
Here's a look at everyone who fits that description.
HC Arthur Smith
Smith served as the Titans' offensive coordinator from 2019-2020. He took the team's offense to unprecedented heights; only Aaron Rodgers and the Packers scored more than Tennessee in 2020.
That season, the Titans logged a 2,000-yard rusher, a 3,000-yard passer, and nearly two 1,000-yard receivers. Smith got my vote for PFWA Assistant Coach of the Year.
QB Marcus Mariota
The Titans took Mariota with the No. 2 pick in the 2014 draft. He showed promise early, especially in his second season, but a severe leg injury in 2015 derailed his progress.
Mariota was never the same after that; he consistently looked mentally broken, and his accuracy was nightmarish, at times. He spent two years backing up Derek Carr with the Raiders before heading to Atlanta in March.
DC Dean Pees
Pees spent two seasons as the Titans' defensive coordinator under head coach Mike Vrabel, and he did impressive work.
The Titans' defense was consistently tough, physical and hard to score on despite having an often anemic four-man pass rush.
After taking the 2020 season off, Pees joined Smith when he was hired as the Falcons' head coach in 2021.
TE Anthony Firkser
Firkser made the Titans' roster as an undrafted free agent in 2018, and he made some nice contributions to the team early in his tenure.
He teamed with TE Jonnu Smith to make a dynamic duo of tight ends for Arthur Smith in 2020, becoming a key weapon on third downs and in the red zone. The 2021 season was a tough one for Firkser, though; he regressed and, at times, became a liability.
Playing behind Kyle Pitts in Atlanta should serve him well.
LB Rashaan Evans
The Titans picked Evans in the first round of the 2018 draft, and his first two seasons were promising.
When Pees left in 2020, though, Evans' career took a turn for the worse. He morphed into one of the NFL's worst run defenders, and his ability to diagnose an offense was nearly non-existent.
Playing for Pees again with the Falcons could help Evans return to the promise he showed in 2018 and 2019.
LS Beau Brinkley
Brinkley snapped for the Titans from 2012-2020. His nine-year stint with the team came to an end when, following a bout with COVID-19, he became wildly inconsistent with his snaps.
OC Dave Ragone
Ragone coached receivers and quarterbacks for the Titans from 2011-2013.
TE Parker Hesse
Hesse spent two seasons (2019 and 2020) on Tennessee's practice squad.
DL Anthony Rush
Rush spent 2021 Training Camp with the Titans.
LB Coach Frank Bush
Bush served as a linebackers coach for the Titans from 2011-2012.
Senior Assistant Steve Hoffman
Hoffman worked in various special teams roles for the Titans from 2013-2016.
