The Chicago Bears released Wednesday’s injury report ahead of the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.

Though just two players are listed on Wednesday's report, Velus Jones Jr. logging a DNP (hamstring) is not a positive sign for his status on Sunday.

Jones, who was drafted in the third round of April’s draft, would be a significant absence if this injury does not improve throughout the week.

It’s especially concerning considering the Bears drafted Jones for his elite speed.

Jones' status will be something to monitor over the next few days, but it’s beginning to look like QB Justin Fields will be without a key weapon on offense when the 49ers come to town.
