There has been a bit of controversy or drama surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders during the preseason.

The Raiders and their superstar tight end Darren Waller have been some what wishy-washy, or so it appears.

Waller is expecting a contract extension, and the Raiders have yet to do that. Now, that could have everything, or nothing at all to do with the situation at hand. I’m just beat to tell what it could be.

Waller recently missed the Raiders preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, and instead was seen at a Las Vegas Aces WNBA game on the same exact day, just minutes before kickoff.

All of the other starters were there at Allegiant Stadium, and were dressed out as if they would play. Usually that’s what the starters do during the preseason to show respect and show leadership. Derek Carr, Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, Maxx Crosby, and Chandler Jones were a few of the starters that were shown dressed out on the broadcast.

Instead, Waller was watching some hoops.

But McDaniels wasn’t having any of the rumor after the big win.

"I don't want to make more of it than it was,” Head coach Josh McDaniels told reporters after the 26-20 preseason win over Minnesota. “He wasn't going to play today anyway."

If McDaniels thinks it’s nothing to worry about, then it probably isn’t. However, it is a bit odd that he didn’t at least show up and watch his team play. Yeah, it’s the preseason, but still, that’s what super star players and star players do. They show up for their team, and he simply didn’t.

I understand McDaniels makes it out to be something you shouldn’t worry about. But I think it’s definitely something. It’s one of the weirder things from this off-season and preseason we have seen.
