Ezekiel Elliott has been one of the biggest stars on the Dallas Cowboys since his rookie season. Elliott clearly established himself as one of the best backs in football during his prime, doing what few can at the position.

Wear and tear has provided some obstacles for Elliott as of late. He does not show the same explosiveness or dynamic ability that he displayed early in his career. It can be tough for a running back to thrive in the league for an extended period.

That, combined with the emergence of Tony Pollard, has put Elliott's long-term future with the Cowboys in jeopardy. Dallas can get out of Elliott's contract following the 2022 season, which has opened the door for a move to be made next offseason.

Nonetheless, the Cowboys' star looks ready to go for the 2022 season. Ezekiel Elliott posted images from his offseason training on Instagram. He looks lean and ready to go for action.

COWBOYS NEED BOUNCE BACK SEASON FROM ZEKE

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to bounce back from a bitter end to the 2021 season. Dallas looked the part of a legitimate championship contender for much of the regular season before flaming out down the stretch.

Ezekiel Elliott will be among the key players counted on in 2022. Elliott enters his seventh season in the league. His last two seasons have seen career-worsts in yards per touch. Improving in that area would help the Cowboys' offense in a big way.

Elliott still provides value. He is a terrific pass protector — among the best in the league in that area. He is also still a short yardage threat. Elliott rushed for 10 touchdowns in 2021 and can be a force between the tackles.

An efficient one-two punch between Elliott and Pollard would do wonders for the Cowboys. The run game struggled last season, leading to defenses sitting back in coverage. A bounce back season from Ezekiel Elliott would be huge for Dallas.
